Wasps…
There’s not many people that will say that they like them, and they’re known to sting us even when not provoked. They also seem like they’re everywhere during the summer months, when you’re walking down the street, enjoying a picnic in the park and in your own home or garden.
Even worse, if they feel comfortable enough and like the surroundings of your home or garden, they’ll settle there and make a nest. This is certainly not something you want, especially if you have children. Therefore, it’s important to know the correct wasp nest removal methods.
Getting rid of a wasps nest can be a rather daunting task because there’s a risk you’ll get stung or even worse; be allergic to a sting. But, unfortunately, removing a wasp nest is a necessary task if you notice one appears to reduce the risk of the insects entering your home and posing a risk to you and your family.
During this article, we’re going to share some tips on how you can remove a wasps nest yourself. However, if you really don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, we’d strongly recommend getting a professional pest control company to do it for you instead.
Are They Bees or Wasps?
Good question. But, don’t worry. If you can’t identify which insects have settled at your home, call the professionals, and they’ll be able to help you. However, you should be able to do this yourself as they both have distinctive features which you can look out for.
Bees
Bees are a lot fuzzier than wasps which is a feature you should look out for. They have black and yellow stripes on their backs too just like wasps but tend to look bigger due to their hairy bodies.
Wasps
Wasps look similar to bees, but the main difference between both the insects is their colour, size and hairless bodies. Wasps are far less beneficial to humans because they don’t pollinate plants as bees do. However, they do eat other insects that would otherwise run rampant. Both insects are dangerous because they can sting you, but bees only sting when they feel in danger and will die shortly afterwards. In contrast, wasps don’t need to feel provoked and won’t die afterwards.
