Why you should vape CBD and not smoke it

Last Updated on

Cannabidiol (CBD) products have entered the alternative health market in a big way. Unheard of just a few years ago, wholesale CBD products are now being used for all kinds of reasons, such as to improve mental health or improve functioning in the immune system. The signs look good for CBD, which helps the body by positively influencing the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS).

The question that most CBD users have is how to take it. As an offshoot of the cannabis plant, there is unsurprisingly a market for smoking hemp flower that has a huge CBD content. The beauty of these strains is that the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) concentration is minimal, so you can smoke them without experiencing any type of ‘high’. The flavor is fantastic and the benefits of CBD kick in pretty much instantly. For instance, some people are now smoking CBD joints to relax in the evening instead of drinking a glass of wine.

But despite providing a therapeutic effect from the CBD, smoking remains injurious to health. When the hemp plant material is burned, carcinogenic chemicals and toxins form which can have disastrous effects on the lungs, particularly with sustained use.

It’s because of this that instead of smoking CBD, you should vaporize it. Research has now clearly shown that the long-term effects of vaping are not even close to being as detrimental as smoking. That said, those who have never vaporized may want to think twice about picking up the habit, as it’s not completely harmless, but it’s an easy decision to make for smokers seeking a healthier alternative.

Why isn’t vaping so much of a danger to health when it still involves inhaling? Crucially, at no point does the plant material or vape juice burn when it is heated. The device is always set to a sweet spot temperature, which is hot enough for vapor to form, without there being any combustion.

How to vaporize CBD

Unlike with smoking, there are three products and ways of vaping CBD. The hemp flower itself can be vaped, as can extracted and concentrated versions of the compound. Let’s assess all three.

Hemp flower

If vaporizing hemp flower, you first need to grind up the bud into small pieces. Otherwise, the flower won’t fit into the device properly and nor will it deliver the CBD efficiently. You’ll then need a vaporizer that is designed to work with dry herb, and has the appropriate oven. Preferably, the device will have convection heating, as this eliminates any risk of burning.

E-liquid

Vaping e-juices is perhaps the most common method of the three. Those who have lots of experience with and love their vaping may have personalized equipment with special modifications. This is typically done to tailor the type of vapor produced to their preferences.

However, a high-tech isn’t needed to enjoy CBD vape oil wholesale products. Disposable vape pens and cartridges offer a way to take CBD without any hassle whatsoever. No work is needed on the user’s part, just attached the cartridge to a vape battery and enjoy. Disposable pens are already ready to use when you buy them.

But if you do have a vaporizer with a refillable tank, purchasing the e-liquid separately gives you more control over dosages and flavor. Combining multiple e-juices (such as CBD and nicotine) is not uncommon, and vape pens and cartridges are not always sold in high strengths. Large doses of CBD are necessary to deliver substantial relief from insomnia and chronic pain.

Concentrates

Concentrates are a new addition to the CBD and cannabis markets, and they really maximize potency. In these products – which tend to be either wax, crumble, crystal or shatter – the CBD regularly makes up 80 percent or more of the entire product. Crystals are at the top end of the scale, with sometimes 99 percent or more CBD.

With so much CBD, it’s easy to consume even hundreds of milligrams of CBD in a single sitting – this is rarely manageable with e-juices, even with the strongest products. Concentrates are generally heated against a nail, with the vapor inhaled directly. But they can also be vaporized in concentrate compatible vaporizers.

Final thoughts

CBD users tend to put a higher premium on healthy products than recreational cannabis consumers. This makes sense, given that CBD is nearly always taken for therapeutic purposes. While there will always be a market for smoking hemp flower, those undecided about how to use CBD should take this information into consideration.
