Ways to improve your home and garden ready to sell

Last Updated on

When it comes to selling your home, there are many things that you need to think about. Selling is, after all, a big decision and once you have made your mind up, you will want to get the process moving on as quickly and swiftly as possible. In order to do this, you will want your home to look as nice as possible and try to get a sale that is both in good time and at a price you want. If you are feeling a bit stuck with what to do to get your home ready to sell, here are some top tips to help you along the way.

Freshen up the paintwork

Never underestimate just how much of a difference a fresh lick of paint can be. If you are living in a space for a long time, you won’t notice how the color of the paint has faded from a bright blue to a grubby grey, or how a luxurious creme looks more puce toned. You can quickly rectify this and make your home look larger, newer, and cleaner with a fresh lick of paint. If you need to go out and purchase some more paint to give it a revamp, try not to spend too much as the new owners are likely to redecorate anyway (but don’t do a bodge job of it!) You want it to look good and sell the property, without costing the earth as it won’t add value to your property.

Sort out your outside space

Your outside space is the equivalent to the front cover of a book and it will be the first thing that potential buyers judge the home on. Get rid of any unnecessary or dead plants and if trees are in the way, be sure to call a dedicated tree removal service to sort this safely and smoothly. You could clean up your driveway, plant some new plants and ensure the paving is free of any leaves or debris. It could also be a good idea to repaint your garden fence, front door, and garage door, if you have one, as these can make a big difference. Also ensure that your lawn is looking its best.

Have a declutter

While you might view clutter and items that make your home yours, it can make the space look messy. You want buyers to be able to picture themselves living there and therefore it is important to get rid of anything that is cluttering up the space and preventing this from happening. Decluttering is also a great way to get you into the mindset of moving and detaching yourself emotionally from your current home. Make sure you clear shelves and cupboards and don’t have too much hanging on the wall.

These are just a few tips that will help improve your home ready for it to sell as quickly as possible. What are some of your favorite ways to improve your home for a sale? Which will you try? Let us know in the comments below!
