Every home in Sydney has a plumbing system of its own. Just like plumbing systems, drains also need maintenance. They get blocked very slowly and steadily. There are many signs of drains getting blocked such as pools of water in the shower after you have turned off the shower, sink taking a lot of time to drain and lastly, weird smells around your house. In times like these it is essential to hire services from professional plumbers that can help you with blocked drains Sydney.

Use a wire hanger

Find a wire hanger in your house. Straighten the hanger and then turn one end of the hanger in such a way that it looks like a small hook. After making a small hook, put it through the drain cover. It will help you to get most of the gross stuff in the drain that’s blocking the drain. This method is relatively easy and will not cost you anything.

Make a mixture of vinegar and baking soda

There are two approaches to this method. First, that you mix one third of the cup of baking soda and vinegar with each other and pour it down in the drain. The mixture of baking soda and vinegar will create a fizzy reaction and will drain anything that is down there. Another approach is to fill the drain with baking soda and the pour vinegar. This method will also cost you nothing except a few grams of vinegar and baking soda.

Mixture of vinegar and baking soda (part2)

Similar to the previous method mentioned. Create a mixture of baking soda and vinegar and then pour it down the drain and then cover it with a stopper for at least two hours. Then fill the sink with water and open the drainage cover. The pressure of water going down the drain may unblock the drains. This method does not always work but it is worth the try.

Mixture of baking soda and salt

Mix ½ cup of salt and baking soda with each other and then pour it down the drain. After an hour of pouring the mixture, pour hot water in the drain. The mixture of these three will create a chemical reaction that will unblock the drains. Furthermore, this method is quite effective and does not cost you anything more than a few grams of baking soda and salt.

Use caustic soda

Caustic soda also known as sodium hydroxide is quite an acidic and a dangerous chemical. When touched by naked skin, it can cause high degree burns to it. So before considering this method, make sure you have taken every precaution. In this method, mix few cups of caustic soda in few gallons of hot water and then pour it down the drain. The drain will get unblocked by vaporizing all the clogged stuff.

Use boiling water

One of the easiest and effective method. It is so easy even a teenager could do this. Just boil water using a kettle or a microwave and pour it down. You have to repeat the process four to five times with break of two to three minutes between each time.

Clean the pipe

Last but not the least, clean the pipes if the drains are blocked. First loosen the screws of the pipe, then empty the stuff that is in the pipe. Using a toothbrush, clear all the stuff that is in the pipe. However, this method can be quite a hassle as well as time consuming, especially for someone who does not have the experience in plumbing.
