Lucky for you, there are several DIY methods you can use to get rid of pests. The best part? These DIY pest control tactics are cheap. Some are even free.

So without further ado, here’s how to start waging war on the pests in your home with simple ingredients you already have in your kitchen and bathroom cabinets!

Clean up

Maintaining hygiene in your house is perhaps the most effective way of keeping your house clean of household pests. No matter how much money you spend on chemicals and poisons and even hire the most expensive professionals if your house is not clean, you will never be able to get rid of household pests.

Use a vinegar spray

If there are ants in your house, try out vinegar and water spray as an all natural and highly effective homemade ant killer. Mix both the elements in a spray bottle and spray it around the house. This will remove their trails and minimize their existence in the house. Repeat this technique for a few weeks, and your house will be ant-free soon.

Homemade Bait

If vinegar spray is not effective enough to get rid of the trail of ants, then try homemade bait. Do not buy anything costly from the supermarket; instead, take Borax and mix it with sugar and put it in small boxes. Apply this mixture to wherever the ants are expected to be and let them feast on it. The ants will take this mixture to their hiding place, and all the ants will feast on it. If you want, you can mix up a bit of peanut butter in it to make it tastier for the ants.

Gradually the ants will die and prevent future infestation. You can even make mix Borax with any other ingredient, which is oily or fatty for the ants to be more attracted to it.

Diatomaceous earth

If you are extremely annoyed by the bugs and pests in your home, try using diatomaceous earth. It is not at all dangerous for humans but very lethal for bugs. To get rid of the bugs in your home, you can sprinkle it in the corners of your house on the counters and baseboards.

Use a limited quantity of diatomaceous earth, or else the bugs will only crawl over it. It will take some time, but eventually, your house will be free of pests. You can use diatomaceous earth to get rid of bed bugs, ants, and spiders.

Flypaper traps

Got flies in the house that are driving you mad? These fly traps will attract those pesky flies and once they’re trapped in this paper due to the adhesive, it will eventually die. So, what do you need to make this trap? It is not very difficult.

Cut a brown paper bag into 2-inch wide strips. On the other hand, mix some corn syrup and water and boil it thoroughly. Remember to stir the mixture frequently. Once you see the boiling bubbles, remove the container from the stove. Then soak those brown paper strips into this mixture for at least 4 hours. Once properly soaked, allow them to dry for about 3 or 4 hours. It is now ready to be hanged in areas where bugs and flies bother you.

Less water around

If you have an outdoor garden, you need to avoid your soil to be too wet. This is because moist soil attracts fungus, which will ultimately lead to insects. To get rid of the insects, make sure that your plants dry out completely. You need to have a proper gardening system with a well-managed drainage system so that there is no problem of bugs or pests. This way, your plants will also grow quite well.

With the help of these cheap techniques, you can easily get rid of household pets in your house.
